My office, where people come to get way to comfortable.

I do not know what it is about me and my office that makes people so comfortable. I guess I should take their comfort as a compliment, but I don't. The level of comfort people feel around me inspires them to do crazy things and tell me stories barely suitable for their therapists office, let alone the office of their academic/career advisor. For example, Monday I had a student come in to do some career research. As I was looking up some information for him, I started making polite chit chat and me mentioned that he wasn't from Orlando. So I asked where he was from and he told me up North, Chicago or Detroit, I can't remember where he said because immediately after that he proceeded to tell me all about how life in big cites was so terrible and he had been stabbed SEVEN times. I said, "WOW, that is terrible." Then he lifted up his shirt and showed me each and every one of his seven stab scars. I couldn't believe my eyes, was this kid serious? I wanted to scream "PUT YOUR CLOTHES BACK ON!!!!!" but I just stood there, staring at him in disbelief. It was one of the most bizarre things to ever happen to me at work. I should make a sign for my door: No shirt, No shoes, No advice!
