Apple Crisp

I love warm desserts, especially warm apple desserts. Apple pie, apple cake, apple dumplings, apple crisp, I love them all. There is just something about apples and cinnamon that is so cozy and homey and heart warming.

Look how cute this apple is. It still had a tiny little leaf.

While Christopher and I lived in our little apartment, I tried to make apple crisp once. It did not go well. Not even close to well. I think it took a week of soaking to get the charred bits of apple out of the pan. So of course my ego and my pyrex both needed time to heal before trying apple crisp again. Then I found a beautiful looking recipe on Pinterest, where else, and after months of looking at it and drooling all over my keyboard I was finally brave enough to try it. It was super easy and completely delicious!

I love getting to use my apple peeler corer slicer! It's a lot of fun. If you don't have one of these bad boys yet, I would recommend getting one. It makes recipes like this a breeze! It is also be handy for peeling potatoes or really anything roundish that you want peeled.

After you peel and slice about 3lbs of apples, cut them in half and place them in a 9x13 baking dish. then you sprinkle a sugar, flour, and cinnamon mixture on the apples, and add half a cup of water to the pan.
To make the topping you mix flour, brown sugar, oatmeal, baking soda and powder, and butter. Then crumble the topping all over the apples. I love the topping part and I'm thinking about making extra next time.
Then bake the apple crisp for about 45 min and TADA! Apple Crisp!
