Florida's Summer Rain

That is a picture of my recycling bin swimming away. If you don't live in Florida you may not know that we have afternoon rain storms almost every day in the summer. Most of the time it's not a huge deal, it rains for 15 - 30 minutes and then it's over. Well this time it was a bigger storm, close lightning, thunder than rattle the windows, and so much rain my street flooded. It just happened to also be trash day. So of course my giant trash can was halfway full of water, and that rascally recycling bin was at the end of my street two houses away.

I changed into jelly shoes and sloshed down the street to collect my bin, cursing the entire way. That water was up to mid calf and filled with leaves and weirdness and oh so gross. It may have been the most times I've said fuck while bringing in the bins and I meant every single f and u and c and k.

If I thought I could demand that Christopher not travel on trash days, I would totally make that demand. Unfortunately, I don't think that would go over well with the office.

Do you have any "fun" trash day stories?

  1. Oh that is my worst nightmare! I get home well before Nelson but I leave the trash can and recycling bins for him to bring in. I hate it! I might have just let that bin go and called the city for a new one. haha! I am impressed with you!

    1. If it happens again I will not be going in after it. It was way worse than I thought it would be, but I was already wet and gross so I just kept going.
