Natalie & Christopher in Germany

Hey there!

We are Natalie and Christopher. We blog about life in the suburbs of Orlando, FL with no kids and one dog. Thanks for checking in.

It's called Google Maps

This morning I rolled out of bed at the ungodly hour of 7:30. I slipped on a dress and threw my hair in a pony tail, real professional I know.. but what do you expect from me when you make me work on a Saturday. Then I made my way to a McDonalds drive through half a sleep for a $1 iced tea. Drove to work, got everything turned on and ready and listened to my voice mails. I was being stood up by a group of 5 teachers with a 9am appointment. Perfect, 3rd week in a row my 9am canceled on me. So an hour and 45 minutes goes buy and nothing. So I read, which I enjoyed, however it would have been much more enjoyable in my bed, in my pajamas with coffee and my dog. Then at 1/4 of 11 I get a call from an Hispanic woman who is very hard to understand on the phone. She is asking for directions, so I helped her the best I could, but explained to her I wasn't familiar with the direction she was coming from so I didn't know exactly how to direct her. 10 minutes later. Call number two from the same woman, asking for directions again. To make a really long story medium, she called a total of 5 times. FIVE. Do I have Garmin or TomTom stamped on my face? NO! I am not a navigation system, if you don't know where you're going MAP IT. It's called Google Maps. Thanks! Also to add to the craziness, this wasn't her first trip to my workplace. She was here like 2 weeks ago. Anyway, she finally shows up and she has another woman with her and they spoke only in Spanish to each other. Then she asked me how my Spanish was and I said I knew very little. Then she told me I should learn Spanish, because everyone should know Spanish. It was all I could do to be like, well ma'am I'm boring ass white bread and I speak English, because my ancestors are Scottish and Irish and we came over on the Mayflour. So I will speak English until I die unless I am traveling in another country and then I will try my very hardest to speak in that country's language as much as I can.  So seeing as how you immigrated here, to these, our great united states, why don't you speak in English when you are in public. I don't care what language you speak in at home, speak in Klingon for all I care. Try that on for size lady. It makes me so mad when people are offended that I don't speak their language when they are from another country. If you were Russian would you have the same reaction when I told you I don't speak Russian either, probably not. I hate to generalize or sound racist because Lord knows I'm not, but I have come into contact with a lot of Hispanic people who are really judgmental of people that don't speak Spanish and I am sick of it. In an emergency I could tell you to get out of a burning building, I can order chicken if I'm  hungry, I can be polite and say hello, how are you, I am well thank you and goodbye and I can count money to pay for services. I think that as a person who doesn't live in a country where Spanish is the most commonly spoken language that is plenty.

End Rant.

After work today I went to Publix, where shopping is a pleasure. And then made a carrot cake with my lady lover for her mom's birthday this week.

For dinner I met with two of my favorite preggos and one adorable toddler for Tacos and chit chat and it was so nice outside today we sat on the patio! It was exciting. I love sitting outside to eat when it's nice, which might surprise all three of my followers because I'm most known for my distaste of the outdoors, but then again maybe not, they are my best friends.

I am currently reading Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley and so far I strongly recommend it. I'm about half way through and I love it. I also got some books at the library the other day, which I am excited to read. I picked up: Pride And Prejudice And Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame Smith on CD so I can put it on my iPod and take it to the Gym, Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert, of Eat, Pray, Love fame, and Tears of Pearl by Tasha Alexander. I am really excited about the last book because I read her first three books already and LOVED them. I have been warned by my buffalo/bookworm friend that it's not as good but I'm excited all the same. I also put my name on the waiting list for Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich and I am 148th. Crazy. I will probably end up buying it at the used bookstore before it's my turn. I am enjoying using the library, I can't believe I didn't start sooner. I just love buying books because I'm a re-reader, but we are out of bookshelf space so I had to stop for now.

Now it's time to frost the cake. =)

Scramble.
