The Great Escape: What We Brought With Us

The Great Escape: What We Brought With Us

Most of our shit is being safely (I hope) stored in two PODS somewhere in TN (I think), but there were some things we wanted to bring with us to have handy and some things we wanted to keep in climate controlled storage in VA. We dragged ourselves, Lucy and all of said items in our two cars, a Chrysler Pacifica minivan and a VW Jetta. Christopher piloted the van while I cruised in the Jetta with the best sidekick, Lucy. Now it wouldn’t be moving if you didn’t run out of room, so on top of our cars we had even more shit in car top carriers.

In the van we brought most of the things we need while we are at my parents house, like clothes, electronics, a couple of hobby items, and Lucy’s supplies.

We also brought some larger electronics and instruments that we put into my parent’s climate controlled storage unit, like our TVs, sound system speakers, Chris’s extensive guitar collection, and a table saw that didn’t fit in the POD with all the other wood shop items.

In the Jetta I brought my large collection of plants, a couple suitcases in the trunk and that was all that fit. I have a lot of plants. They are currently taking over my parent’s front porch. I have used about 90% of their porch rail space and then I MAY have bought a couple new plants since I’ve been in VA.

Did we bring too much shit? Absolutely. Did we bring all the things we really needed? Nope. But here we are, making it work, and looking for new cold weather clothes because eventually it will get cold here and our coats are in the PODS. I also donated way too many clothes hangers and I had to get some at Walmart to hang up our clothes. Moving is fun, you should totally do it too.
