Year in Review: 2023 Goals

At the beginning of each year, I make a list of goals instead of resolutions. This year my goals were to rest more, find a new home, visit somewhere new, post 150 blog posts, read 20 books, and get paid to write.

Rest More

I was able to rest a lot this year. I tried to get enough sleep more often, I had coffee on the porch, I spent time alone, Christopher and I got away from regular life, and I tried to do other energy-giving activities like baking, journaling, trying new recipes, and taking breaks from being responsible thanks to living with my parents.

This time living with my parents has been really hard for me because who lives with their parents with their husband and dog at almost 40? It feels like I’m not a real adult anymore. But this time here has allowed me to rest and work on my mental health, which I desperately needed.

Find a New Home

This didn’t work out, and we are really sad about it. I feel like not finding a house near my parents was the last sign that I am not a small-town girl. I wanted to be, but it’s just not working out.

Visit Somewhere New

We visited a ton of new places. The states we visited together for the first time this year are: Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Kentucky, and Massachusets, Check out our 2023 travel recap here.

Post 150 Blog Posts

I got close but didn’t make it to 150 posts. If I post the last couple I am planning for the year I will have posted 121 times this year.

Read 20 Books

Another nope. I am currently reading book number 14 for the year, hopefully, I finish it by the end of the month. You can see what I’ve read on Goodreads.

Get Paid to Write

This also didn’t happen. I am glad resting was my main goal because I did not crush this list of goals.

I’m working on my goals for 2024, so check back in January to see what I’m going to try and accomplish next year.
