Soul Detox

SheReadsTruth

I have been really enjoying the She Reads Truth Fresh Start reading plan I started a couple of weeks ago. And today the She Reads Truth community is starting a Soul Detox 5 week plan, so even though I'm not quite done with Fresh Start , I'm going to double up for a few days so I'm not behind for the Soul Detox.

I've found that some days it's hard to click that Bible app and read the 2 verses that are waiting for me. Those are days I probably need it most. It's like I need to hear God's word so badly, that I can't even handle it. So I don't. Then there are days where the handful of verses isn't near enough, so I read the chapters all the verses came from and chapters after that. I've even found some short reading plans and just read through the entire plan all at once, because I just couldn't get enough.

I think for now my goal is to embrace the days I can't get enough, and push through those days I don't want to read to at least read something. Even if that something isn't in my reading plan, even if it's one verse, even if that one verse is a verse I've had memorized for 20 years. Just read something from the Bible every day. And stop worrying about stuff so much.

I have Matthew 6:25-34 printed out in my office/craft room/guest room, maybe it should be in the fridge.

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
