3 Easy Thanksgiving Side Dishes


Are y'all ready for Thanksgiving? If you are in need of an easy side dish for your Thanksgiving feast, Corn Casserole, Cranberry Sauce, and Sweet Potato Casserole are simple, delicious, and real crowd pleasers. 

Corn Casserole


Corn casserole has a simple list of ingredients and instructions. You will need 1 box Jiffy mix, a can of cream corn, a can of kernal corn, butter, and sour cream.


Melt the butter and mix in the sour cream.


Dump in the rest of the ingredients and stir.


Once everything is incorporated toss that in a 9 x 9 baking dish.


Bake it up at 350 degrees for 45 min or until golden brown


Eat! This is the recipe I used.

Cranberry Sauce

I am not a cranberry fan, but Christopher LOVES them. He eats cranberry sauce all year round and loves cranberry juice. The man is crazy about cranberries. Thankfully homemade cranberry sauce is super simple. I kind of followed this recipe.


Rinse a bag of fresh cranberries.


Heat 1 cup of liquid, I used 1/2 water and 1/2 orange juice, stir in 1 cup of sugar and dissolve.


Add the cranberries


Simmer about 10 min or until your berries start to pop


Let it cool, then feed it to your cranberry loving family members.

Sweet Potato Casserole

Sweet potato casserole is one of my very favorite side dishes at Thanksgiving, or really on any day of the year.


I don't really use a recipe, but this is what I use: Bruce's Yams brown sugar, assorted fall spices (cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg), mini marshmallows, and of course butter.


I can't believe I forgot to include the butter in the picture.


Mix your yams, softened butter, brown sugar and a sprinkle of spices to taste (or smell at this point)


Toss that stuff in a baking dish and bake at 350 degrees or somewhere in that neighborhood, until it's a little bubbly around the edges.


Once you have the sweet potato part all heated up add the most important ingredient


MARSHMALLOWS! Pop that sucker back in the over until the marshmallows are brown on top, I maaaay have added a few too many and they might have started to grow too big for their dish, but they are the best part.


Let this dish cool for a little while before serving, it will be like a sugary lava if you eat it too soon.
