Year in Review: 2019

In 2019 my word of the year was Thrive. I wanted to focus on not just surviving or existing, but thriving. Doing things I love, trying new things, and stepping out of my comfort zone. This is the last year of this decade, and I wanted to try and get to a good place to make big changes in the coming one, more about that at a later date.

Let’s take a look at 2019.

January

  • I turned 33

  • I met baby Emory

  • I had my annual deep fried Mars Bar at the Scottish Highland Games

  • We saw HAMILTON

February

  • The Metro Diner near our house opened

  • I met Tinkerbell at Magic Kindgom

March

  • Celebrated Molly and Heidi’s birthdays with GIANT balloons

  • Made my first pour painting

  • Tried a McFlurry with hot fudge for the first time. SO GOOD.

  • Celebrated baby Anna

April

  • Made some cute iron on baby onesies for some new babes

  • Made a curtain for my office door window with Rifle Paper Co. fabric

  • Went to an Easter egg decorating class at Rifle Paper Co. with my mom

  • Had an Epic Foxtail Coffee day - siphon coffee, season lattes, and coffee cupping

  • Baby ducks were hatched in our neighbor’s yard

  • Tried the coffee at New General in Winter Park

May

  • Picked blueberries and sunflowers

  • Tried a Blizzard flight - SO GOOD

  • Made another super cute onesie

  • Went to a David Sedaris reading and met him! So much FUN!

  • We celebrated TEN years of marriage

  • We went to London and Paris - so everything about that was magical

June

  • Had a record number a birds visit our yard in one day

  • Went to a glow in the dark paint night

July

  • Finally tried a milkshake from Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream

  • Played with sparklers and watched the Orlando fireworks with the family

  • Bought like 100 cacti and succulents and orchids with Kiimber

  • Had an extended family weekend getaway in GA to spread my aunt’s ashes and hang out together

August

  • Stayed at Disney World for a weekend

  • Went to a character breakfast at Hollywood Studios

  • Prepped for a hurricane that thankfully turned and left us alone

September

  • Went on our annual fall friends cruise

  • Took Molly on a special outing to paint pottery, complete with her favorite snacks and treats

  • Went on a family cruise with my parents, my middle brother and sister in law and their kids

  • Went to Coco Cay for the first time - it was awesome

  • Saw a very brave friend speak about mental illness at This is my Brave Orlando

  • Saw Dane Cook live for the first time in forever

October

  • My parents moved to North Carolina

  • Christopher turned 35

  • We tried Maple Street Biscuit Company for the first time - YUM!

  • We started getting Home Chef meal kits delivered

  • We went to Animal Kingdom with Molly for the first time

  • We took Molly to a fall festival

  • I started painting rocks

  • We took Molly and Heidi on a play date to a park to hide the rocks I painted

  • Started a weekly family dinner with my brothers (and parents when they are in town)

  • We had a record number of Trick or Treaters this year - 61

November

  • Introduced Molly and Heidi to Snapchat filters and laughed my ass off

  • Got my first pair of Rothy’s loafers and first pair of wool blend points

  • Made some fun iron on Christmas crafts

  • Bought almost every seasonal item at Trader Joe’s

  • Celebrated Thanksgiving

  • Stayed at Disney for a weekend

December

  • Saw The Play That Goes Wrong

  • Visited my parents in North Carolina for their town Christmas festival

  • Hosted my 8th annual gingerbread house building party

  • Had Molly over for a craft day - we used a lot of glitter

  • Saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in concert
